The USDA has announced that Nestlé Prepared Foods Company, a Mt. Sterling, Ky., establishment, is recalling approximately 199,417 pounds of frozen stuffed chicken sandwich products that may contain pieces of plastic.

The Kroger Co. has included East Tennessee markets in the voluntary recall of its 16 ounce packages of “Private Selection Natural” ground beef due to possible E.coli contamination.  Head here for details.

`Mater Samwich season is the worst possible time for a tomato-related salmonella outbreak – since this is a summer staple in the diet of many East Tennesseans.  But don’t toss out your jar of JFG mayo and loaf of white bread just yet… some Tennessee tomatoes are not included in the recall.
