The Conversation @ My House

overheard between two six-year old girls…
Ms. Diva: “Um, let’s paint a Father’s Day card…”
Miss O: “Father’s Day?  How about a Mother’s Day card.”
Ms. Diva: “Mother’s Day is over.”
Miss O:  “Father’s Day is a long time away.”
Ms. Diva: “Let’s paint a picture of Obama!”
Miss O: “Yeah, we love Obama!”
Ms. Diva: “It can’t be a bad picture [...]

Hank Hayes covered the Rogersville/Hawkins County Chamber of Commerce legislative breakfast Saturday morning, where  Phil Roe discussed the stimulus bill.
“We got it at 9 o’clock yesterday morning and voted at 2 o’clock yesterday afternoon,” Roe said of the bill. “No one has read this bill. I can promise you not one senator, not one representative [...]

How Ya Like the Bowtie Now?

I normally don’t keep up with the Tennessee Democratic Party.  It’s not that I have anything against Democrats.  It’s just that I live in East Tennessee.  This means, even if I wanted to embrace my Democraticyishness, it’d be pointless to do so.  For the record, I don’t want to embrace my Democraticyishness… any more than [...]

So Far… on Election Night

Ms. Diva is pissed because they’ve already called Tennessee for McCain – so she’s talking trash to Anderson Cooper on television.
Mr. Smartypants is upset because no one has mentioned those other people, whose names were on the ballot – and he wants to know why.
Mike Faulk is leading Mike Williams in the state Senate Race.
And [...]

Chicago

Chicago is expecting mass crowds at the Obama (victory) rally – and law enforcement seems slightly yet understandably pissed that Mayor Daley extended an open invitation to the entire ticket-less US to come to Grant Park and view the event on the Jumbotron.
Chicago officials are advising police officers assigned to Grant Park to stay cool [...]
