Dearest Bill Phillips:
When the BMA was discussing traffic cams last night and you said:
“I personally think it’s unconstitutional, and most lawyers I know think it is too. I think eventually it’s going to work its way up into the federal system, it’s going to be declared unconstitutional, and when that happens there’s going to be a class-action lawsuit against every city that has put those things in effect.
“You never know. It could go the other way.”
Phillips said he believes the cameras violate a citizen’s rights in several ways including their Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination; convicting a person of a misdemeanor outside the presence of a police officer; allowing a private company to issue fines; and violating a citizen’s 14th Amendment right to confront their accuser.
I decided that I loved you just a little bit, at least more than I did previously. But I’d like to think those feelings will pass with time. — A

One falls in love…
Another laughs and walks away…
Amazing how the same story affects people in different ways…
Bill has been blessed as the chosen one to replace Jim Sells as mayor. Sells has told his inner circle he does not plan to seek reelection. Phillips has always been the one calling the shots and is now ready to emerge from the shadows. The red light story was a contrived situation, one of many to come, in order to promote Phillips as a man of the people. Which he is not.

12/8/09
Rogersville BMA meeting
1. Briefing by vendor on red light and speed cameras
2. Committee established by Mayor to investigate, evaluate and report.
3. No comments from town’s attorney.
4. One citizen supportive of cameras.
5. One alderman “maybe” opposed due to his receiving a ticket in Kingsport when he ran a red light with his emergency flashers on as he headed to hospital….
If the Kiffin debacle and now the Brown upset in Mass cant draw you back I suppose nothing will. Didn’t always agree but I sure enjoyed hearing what you had to say. I will still check in from time to time to see if you knocked the dust off.
