So do the fans. If you don’t meet those expectations, ticket sales drop, the tailgate supply market fails, makers of beer, bourbon, mini-propane tanks, stadium cushions, camp chairs and orange accessories get nervous - and somebody must be axed.
Still, in honor of Fulmer’s contributions to the University of Tennessee, UT athletics director Mike Hamilton announced that Fulmer’s last home game on Nov. 29th will be “Phillip Fulmer Appreciation Day.”
Ironically, the Vols face the Wildcats’… and Randy Sanders.
Perhaps, after the game, the two will discuss what it feels like to be crushed under the wheels of the bus… what a prick Mike Hamilton can be… the hardships of SEC football… and the love/hate relationship between fans and coaches… how someday they will all rue the day… or how it would just be nice to coach in the Big East where no one gives a shit whether you win or lose.
