Since some of you have inquired about my absence, which I must admit made me feel all special and loved – I feel as though I owe you an explanation. Here it is:
I haven’t been blogging because I haven’t been keeping up with “the news” … or rather I’ve been keeping up but have avoided [...]

Dear America: GET A GRIP
Posted in In the news on Nov 12th, 2008
I’ve been forwarded various versions of this story more times than I can count. I suppose folks felt that by warning me of Stephen Lewis’ newspaper column, they were protecting or supporting me, thought I should know in case I wanted to protest… or perhaps they just wanted to make clear their disapproval.
I appreciate the [...]
The Alabama-based R.L. Zeigler Co. is recalling more than 28,000 pounds of hot dog products sent to markets in five Southern states. The recall includes several different sizes and types of Zeigler hot dogs sold in everything from 12-ounce packages to 10-pound bulkboxes. The products were produced on Sept. 22 and were sent [...]

I notice advertising – commercials, promos, print ads, online and mobile. And I analyze them: What is the message? How are they communicating this? Who are they targeting? What kind of psychology are they using? How is this going to make the consumer feel? Is that going to be effective?

When Sarah’s Skirts Are No Longer News

The headlines say: Gun sales are up after election!
Gun buyers have apparently hit the stores due to concerns that an Obama administration will curtail their right to bear arms – and much ado has been made of the (still statistically unquantified) increase.

Nancy P. Floozy and Hooey Mexican Stuff: The Republican Problem

Yesterday sucked.
The Relative called first thing in the morning, bent out-of-shape because Obama selected that “little peckerhead” [Rahm Emanuel] for his Chief of Staff. Of course, I knew this phone call was coming. I dreaded it.
I also know there will be a thousand more over the next four [...]
For the first time since the Reconstruction, the Republican Party has taken control of the Tennessee General Assembly – top to bottom, house to senate, the whole bicameral enchilada. (Go ahead. Take a moment. Laugh or Cry. Whatever suits you.) Personally, I think there’s a damn good reason why state political history is what it [...]
While You Were Sleeping…

On Tuesday when the election results were in, Obama won. The earth didn’t move. No voices rang from the heavens singing “Glory Hallelujah” or “Holy Shit, Ya’ll Done Messed Up” The lame didn’t walk. The blind didn’t see. The seas didn’t part. The moon didn’t [...]
Mike Faulk (R) 29417 50%

Scratch that: Williams is edging past Faulk… but not by much.
The Yager/Ruppe race looks close as well. Tim Barnes is stomping Kurita so far – and over in District 26, Camp isn’t doing so great. Maybe folks there liked the cow.
UPDATE here.
