The Times-News reports that Hawkins County authorities are investigating another fuel theft. Sometime overnight between Wednesday and Thursday of last week, about 460 gallons of diesel fuel was stolen from Ted’s Supply, 133 Route 70-S, Rogersville.
Earlier this month, the Chip Hale Center had fuel drained from two vans by someone who punched holes in the gas tanks. The same thing was done to three trucks that were parked at the Hawkins County Schools Central Office.
And last week, in Greeneville, two hundred fifty gallons of gasoline was stolen from a convenience store by someone driving a pickup truck towing a trailer. Investigators said the trailer had five 50-gallon tanks, and the thief is believed to have used some type of electronic device to activate the gas pumps.
