I noticed a ruckus a brewing at the local high school this morning. It’s just been confirmed that the ruckus is the result of a bomb threat. Students have been moved to the football field: and police are on the scene. (I might eat these words if pieces of brick hit the house later, but how much you want to bet someone had a test for which they didn’t study?)
UPDATE: Students are not being released to parents because administrators and local authorities have the campus secured. A search is being conducted. According to Media Rep for CHS Donald Anderson, updates will be given on the hour and will be available through central office and on the website for Hawkins County Schools. Video statement here since I cannot get it to embed.

UPDATE: Persia Fire Department, Hawkins County EMS and THP were on scene as well as local law enforcement. According to Anderson, the evacuation was announced over the school PA at 7:35a.m. I received the first student text at approximately the same time. According to the chatter, the bomb threat was spray painted on a wall. Anderson confirmed this. Students and staff were evacuated immediately. As I left the scene, additional emergency personnel were being called in to deal with potentially irate parents.
UPDATE: Kids are headed back to class. No word on if they’ve got a suspect… but if they do, I’m guessing someone is in a load of trouble…

[...] 1, 2008 by demarcationville Earlier this morning, Cherokee High School received a bomb threat via “writing on the wall.” As per their safety plan, they evacuated the school until [...]
I was there it was hell, we sat out there for 4 and a half hours at first it was cold then it got hot. I was the first off the bus when frailey told me to get back on and go to the football field. As i walked back i glanced over my shoulder and see on the wall spray painted in silver the words “There Is A BOMB”. And on the bleachers there were to fights
I was also there.
The fights were stupid, and the temperatures were annoying.
It was quite scary that we were under a bomb threat. I myself passed the graffiti and didn’t even notice it. I was in the building about 7 minutes before we were told to evacuate.
Two teachers first found the ‘mural’ outside the school, and I have been told quite a few rumors that I have no proof yet like : “They know it was two guys, they were both dressed in camo and they didn’t bring a car into the area” and people were arrested for drugs, which, even though I have no proof to back that up, it’s probably true.
