WBIR reports: The Knoxville Fire Department is confirming a shooting at Central High School on Jacksboro Pike in Knoxville. It happened just after 8 a.m. There is no word at this point of injuries. At least one person has been taken into custody. Students that need to meet up with their parents will be transported via bus to Central Baptist in Fountain City. Parents are asked to meet them there and not at the school. The school remains locked down. Classrooms will be opened and released one at a time. Students driving will be checked and then allowed to drive themselves home. Follow at WBIR.

WATE: A shooting involving two students has been reported at Central High School shortly before school started Thursday morning. The school is currently under lockdown. Other Knox County schools are also placed in temporary lockdown, which is standard procedure in incidents such as this. Link to story.

According to Knox News the shooting was reported about 8:10 a.m. in the school cafeteria. Initial reports were that one student shot another after taking a gun from his backpack. He then walked out of the school and was taken into custody about 8:20 a.m. Officials are preparing to let parents come to pick up their children. The story is here.

UPDATED: Michael Silence reports via Twitter, the victim died. He was 16-years old.
