While Anthony Hopkins was leading a revival in a small church on the outskirts of Jackson, Ala., on Monday  night, the body of a woman, presumed to be his wife, was stuffed in a freezer at his house in Mobile, waiting to be discovered by police.  (h/t Don Fenley)

Police believe Anthony Hopkins murdered his wife and kept her in the freezer while putting his eight children through a reign of terror and sexual abuse.  Fortunately, on Monday,  one of those children paid a visit to the Child Advocacy Center while the seven siblings were attending church with their father. Hopkins now faces charges of murder, rape, sodomy, and incest.

I also found this VERY troubling:

Jerry Porter, pastor of the  William Street Holiness Church in Trinity Gardens, attended church with the Hopkins family from `98 to `04.  He tells reporters (WKRG NewChannel 5, Fox10 News) Aletha Hopkins, stopped showing up in church shortly after the birth of her eighth and youngest child in `04.

The disappearance seemed so odd,  people in the congregation started asking questions and even passing rumors.  To address the situation, Porter says he talked to Hopkins about the disappearance of his wife.

“I asked him pointed blank is this true that your wife is dead? And he wouldn’t tell me. He would tell me either way.” he said.

Soon thereafter, the family moved on and Porter didn’t hear anything more from Hopkins until new reports confirmed his suspicions.

Um, hello? If the entire congregation was suspicious, Porter couldn’t get a straight answer – and this was such a concern for the church that Hopkins was no longer permitted to address the congregation: don’t you think, I dunno, maybe someone could have mentioned this to the police back then… four years ago?

Meanwhile, Pastor Beverly Jackson of Inspirational Tabernacle church in Jackson, where Hopkins was arrested, said the revival will go on the rest of the week without Hopkins and his family.
