The Town of Rogersville gets a little recognition from the National Geographic Society… and it has nothing to do with those red-headed, crazy neanderthal people living between here and Greene County.
The National Geographic Traveler will include the town in their Appalachian Driving Tours Map along with several other East Tennessee areas which are covered in NETTA’s “Tales & Trails.” The mention in the national publication is almost enough to forgive Editor Keith Bellows for his whole “Hey, ya’ll need to charge people to come and look at the Great Smoky Mountains!” idea a few months back.

This is certainly good news! Should be effective, without cost to the Town.
I agree with Kandy. It will be very nice to have National Geographic advertising our town for us. We worked for several years to develop the museum and have an impressive collection, none of which we had to pay for. The State Museum, East Tennessee State’s Museum, and individual donors were very generous to us.
