Last Wednesday, Hank Hayes at the Times-News ran the obligatory election year piece: “Obama faces uphill climb winning Tennessee in November.” I say obligatory because every year we examine the chances of Democratic candidates in our state, declare them nil and move on to other things.
In 2000, we had: Gore’s home advantage in Tennessee looking a bit sickly. Could Fred Thompson be a possible Veep? Gas prices top $2 per gallon.
In 2004, there was: “Kerry-Edwards ticket is hardly a dream team” Bush Ad Misleading, Bush Ad Misleading, Misleading Bush Ad, Oil prices reached nearly $42 a barrel, Average Price of Gasoline in Tricities $1.77.
This year, we’ve got the Obama bit – and the article has drawn 31 public comments. The discussion has apparently gotten so heated, Don Fenley stepped in to play moderator (which I don’t entirely understand since Times-News requires approval of comments before they appear on the page.)
Boosting readership by letting some of these pass, perhaps?
Anyway, the discussion ranks slightly below comments on investigations of the police departments, war, pit bulls and child abuse.
Oh, and gas is now $4 a gallon.

[...] Angelia notes the Times News’ obligatory “A Democrat Can’t Make It in This State” article and speculates on the reasons so many racy comments slipped through the comment moderation. [...]
Yes, interesting thread over at the Times.
If only the Le Michelle person would let us know how he really feels.
