Ya’ll are invited to Rogersville on the evening of May 23 as the city plays host to two events to kick off the Memorial Day weekend. Linkage follows.
The Rogersville Heritage Association will be hosting “Bluegrass and Barbecue” featuring food and entertainment in Crockett Spring Park from 4-9PM. Barbecue plates will cost $10 per plate, with soft drinks and beer sold separately.
Rough Edges, (Lil’ Chippy’s band as I call it) will perform in the gazebo at Crockett Spring Park beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Rogersville Main Street Program will be hosting a “Cruise-In Celebration” on Main Street in connection with Otis Eldridge’s Memory Lane Car show. The “Cruise-In and Celebration” runs from 5-9 p.m.
Parking will be available for pre-80’s classic cars along Main Street (Some Main Street board members apparently aren’t convinced the 80’s were cool yet – so no high hair, bangles and Chevrolet Camaro Z/28s – okay?)
Cloud Creek Band and Ball Sisters Band will perform on the Town Square beginning at 6PM and downtown restaurants and businesses are scheduled to be open for the event, which also continues until 9 p.m. (Again: big thanks to Cris and John, who are wonderful.)
The Random Rods Seventh Annual “Cruising Down Memory Lane” Car Show will be a one-day event held at Otis Eldridge’s Memory Lane May 24. Memory Lane is located on Caney Creek Road, off Highway 70 North. You really shouldn’t take directions from me because I get lost on the way to the bathroom: so head over to the Random Rods site for a map.
Saturday’s schedule of events includes:
Registration – 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Coy Boggs Band – 1 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Led By Christ (at the Church) – 3 p.m.
Award ceremony – 6 p.m.
Elvis – 7:30 p.m.
Drive-in movie – 9 p.m.
