Rep. Stacey Campfield sponsored a bill, which would allow the court to terminate child support if DNA testing determines said child is not the biological offspring of the “named” father.

To which, Rob Briley says:

Ok, I live in an area where many folks could be considered grade-a prime material for Jerry Springer producers.  Far too often, paternity is a multiple choice selection and yes, women do occasionally identify the wrong man for the wrong reasons.

Existing paternity laws do not address many of those situations.

Granted – my initial concern was how the legal termination of “Dad’s support” might harm the child emtionally – but chances are any guy, willing to go to this extent to overturn paternity, is already long gone in all the ways that matter.

Therefore, I thought the bill deserved some serious discussion — as Campfield’s proposal was far more practical than the solution offered forth by Democrat GA Hardaway.

Riding on the theory that all women have the potential to be lying bitches, (you know, better be safe than sorry and all that) GA came up with the notion of mandatory paternity testing upon birth, which would increase the cost of a birth certificate from $7 to $172.

And we think Campfield has issues?

Oh well – I suppose Briley doesn’t see it quite the same way I do. In fact, I’m not sure what Rob Briley sees. You know, following this rant, I suspect he may be “anemiclike Ophelia.
