Today, I noticed this comment attached to an old blog post about Ron Paul:

Get your facts straight. Ron Paul has never appeared on the Political Cesspool. Though we support him wholeheartedly, he has never been on our program. Why would you use falsehood to discredit an honorable man?

Aside from being tickled that the commenter concedes a Paul appearance on the Political PooPoo radio show would discredit him as a candidate, I considered the possibility I’d made a mistake.

It can happen, you know.

So, time to review my facts. I recall seeing Paul’s name on the online Potty Guest List. When I went back to check, he was missing. I would have assumed I’d erred if I hadn’t found these tidbits:

Congressman Ron Paul TONIGHT On The Cesspool

One of the only truly conservative Congressmen in office today, Ron Paul, will be doing a live interview on The Political Cesspool www.thepoliticalcesspool.org tonight. The show is from 7-8 PM Central time and can be heard locally (Memphis) on 1380 AM WLRM or the live stream or archives if you miss it live will be at www.thepoliticalcesspool.org. No matter what your opinion of the Cesspool is you will not want to miss this interview. I have heard that No Child Left Behind and possible Bush impeachment will be discussed, but I am not 100% sure on that. Tune in to find out.

The August 18th Broadcast is missing from the archives – so I don’t know if Paul appeared on the show or not. However, also located the Answers.com entry for Political Cesspool with a list of notable guests:

  • Pat Buchanan
  • Bay Buchanan
  • Kevin B. MacDonald
  • Gary Puckett
  • David Duke
  • Jared Taylor
  • Chris Simcox
  • Paul Craig Roberts
  • Ron Paul

Quickly, a few other entries:

THE COMPANY RON PAUL KEEPS

Paul’s disinclination to separate himself from the Larry Pratts of the world is part of a pattern that over the last 20 years has seen him snuggling up to some extremely questionable characters on the far right fringe. Like, for example, secessionists, who gathered at a conference in April of 1995 to hear Paul speak about the “once and future Republic of Texas.” Or the beady-eyed listeners of The Political Cesspool. It’s the unofficial radio program of the Council of Conservative Citizens–you know, the repainted White Citizens Council that got Trent Lott into a bit of trouble a few years ago. (Tune in tonight for their special program on “the disastrous Brown vs. Topeka Board of Education decision, one which ushered in an era of radical leftist ideology upon the American citizenry.”) Paul has been a guest on the program; you’ll find him listed under P, right above Prussian Blue, the white supremacist teenage singing duo.

Do a bit of research on the Political Cesspool where he has been a guest many times. It’s the radio program for the White Citizens Council … you’ll find him listed under P, right above Prussian Blue, the white supremacist teenage singing duo. What was that Paul said about “racial identity” .. I guess that’s only bad if you’re not white.

Okay, so it’s not just me. Other people saw the name on the list as well. I’m not saying the commenter lied or that the name was later removed because Paul never appeared or doesn’t want to be affiliated with their Political Poopy. All I know is this – it is was there. Now, it’s gone. Wonder why it disappeared?

Perhaps all those folks who saw the name listed on the site are part of a huge left-wing conspiracy to discredit Paul because well… we have nothing better to do.

This would make a good show. Somewhat in line with the crap they’re airing now. Yeah, go with that.

  1. [...] is trying to confirm whether or not Ron Paul has appeared on one Tennessee’s more controversial radio programs. [...]

  2. Matthew says:

I don’t know if Paul did or didn’t appear on whatever, but who cares if he did? He’s appeared on Fox, which is arguably a greater threat to worldwide sanity than any far-out local radio program. Why don’t you have a fit about that? It’s not like he would be endorsing the views of a host by appearing on his program.

  3. demarcationville says:

I am not concerned by the notion that Paul may or may not have appeared on Political Cesspool or Fox News. What I find troublesome is the disappearance of his name from the guest list. Either he didn’t appear and the name was falsely added or he did appear and is now seeking distance from this small sect and/or whatever comments made on the program.

For the reasons you’ve stated, there’d be much less hullabaloo if Edwards offered some explanation (perhaps there was a mistake or Paul canceled at the last minute) or if Paul’s campaign said, “Yes, he appeared on the radio show to talk with James Edwards about (insert issue here.)”

As it is, the whole deal seems shady. That’s what I find disturbing.

  4. [...] Ron Paul was apparently a fairly recent (August 2006) guest on “The Political Cesspool,” the unofficial radio show of the Council of Conservative Citizens. I say apparently because phenry’s expose of Paul, on which this article is partly based, states that Paul is listed on the Cesspool’s guest list…but he’s nowhere to be found there. Given that phenry’s piece seems to be otherwise reliable, is this a mistake, or did someone delete Ron Paul from the list, perhaps to avoid embarrassing him? Very probably the latter, since his forthcoming appearance is mentioned on another right-wing web page. “One of the only truly conservative Congressmen in office today, Ron Paul, will be doing a live interview on The Political Cesspool http://www.thepoliticalcesspool.org tonight…. No matter what your opinion of the Cesspool is you will not want to miss this interview.” That doesn’t sound like somebody who’s against Paul smearing him or repeating misinformation, especially since it occurs on “austin in his underwear,” a right-wing anti-immigrant site. Also, another site by a self-described “Republican soccer mom from East Tennessee” who purports to dislike “both extremes” of the political spectrum also reports having seen him listed in the Cesspool guest list (see also this follow-up). “Aside from being tickled that the commenter concedes a Paul appearance on the Political PooPoo radio show would discredit him as a candidate, I considered the possibility I’d made a mistake.”

This statement is proof of the maladaptive assumptions that Cultural Marxist make all the time. The question within the comment implies that you made an attempt to discredit Dr. Paul by using lies, not that his appearance would be discrediting. Your perceived concession is presumptuous and notwithstanding.

As for the name appearing on the guest list, I can only assume that there was a miscommunication and a mistake was made. Therefore, the mistake has probably been corrected.

As for any insinuation that the name was removed and the show deleted to shield Ron Paul, would be incorrect. Those guys are more genuine than that. I would suggest contacting Mr. Edwards and getting a statement for yourself. If nothing else, you can post his comment and then spew some more baseless dribble about the show.

Oh, one other thing…is it really an insult to call the program PooPoo, when they titled themselves the Cesspool?

  6. Spanky says:

I have seen Ron Paul’s name on the Political Cesspool. HE WAS THERE.
He must of said something that could of killed his campaign in order for them to delete it?
Someone must have a Copy of the Interview?
